A Thank-You to St. Peter's School

Dear Friends,

On Sunday after church, the Parmans will head out of town for a few weeks now that the school year is ending. In coming to the end of this strange school year, I want to offer words of profound thanks for the faculty, staff, and administrators of our beloved school.

Let me be honest, I, like so many parents, was terribly nervous going into this school year. I wasn't sure if it was even the right decision to send my kids back to school in person. I had no idea how the safety protocols the school put in place would work. I was clueless.

But, having had kids in St. Peter's Episcopal School for the last 6 years had taught me that this was a place I could trust. That our Head of School, Meredith Ruffner, would do everything in her power to make it all work. And that is what she and her team did.

Our administrators buckled down, finding ways to fit kids in classrooms such that CDC guidance could be followed. They trained staff on the use of technology so that we could offer students the option to learn from home, should they so desire. They brought on new team members to meet the many challenges that the year would bring.

And, the teachers! This amazing team of educators. They have been an inspiration.

They rolled with every punch. They adapted plans constantly. They taught kids on screens and in person all at once. They went above and beyond anything I could've expected, and that bar is high. My experience at St. Peter's tells me to expect a lot!

The administration, faculty, and staff have done something incredible over the last year. They made school happen. They provided our students with a chance to learn that was fun, formative, safe, and something close to normal in a world that has been anything but normal for so very long.

So much has been lost over the last year. There is much to mourn.

But today, I offer my sincerest gratitude to the people of St. Peter's School who have made this year remarkable. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

God Bless,
Fr. Quinn+
