Sabbath observance Dr Rebecca Wright

A couple thoughts on the discussion of Sabbath today -

Sabbath observance is restorative, giving time to reflect and to enjoy the world we created and the work we have done.

Sabbath observance is evangelical, offering a visible example to the world about how we live our faith.

Sabbath observance is kingdom building, opening our minds to an economy that is not driven by accumulation of wealth.

Sabbath observance is family and community growing, or it can be at least.

Sabbath observance is a commitment to share ourselves with God. It is commanded, a mitzvah. Life breaks down when the commandment is broken - stress, strain, frustration, burn out, fatigue.

The reading for this week is to give unto God what is God's. The Sabbath is part of what is God's.
