New music programs at St. Peter’s
Music and Art are a very important part of what we do and who we are at St. Peter’s. The next several months will be an exciting time as we work hard to grow and expand our music program. The parish choir will continue to be a central fixture in that program, but the worship services will be enriched with instrumentalists and visiting musicians. In addition, we plan on developing a concert series at St. Peter’s that will bring great music to the community.
As a new member of the St. Peter’s staff, I am particularly excited at the chance to help shape these exciting programs. My training as an organist and my current work in new music composition will be two skills that I hope to employ in my tenure as organist/choirmaster. Please feel free to come introduce yourself, and any suggestions (musical or otherwise) will be appreciatively accepted.
The Parish Choir
We have just begun a “new year” with our Parish Choir. The choir sings each week at the 11 o’clock service on Sundays. This year we will be doing some new and exciting music. I will be composing several new anthems throughout the year and the choir will at various times be joined by other musicians and instrumentalists. The choir will also be performing occasionally in our new concert series. The choir practices every Wednesday at 7pm in the Nave. If you are a singer and have an interest in being a part of a fun and musically challenging group, please contact me: timhinck@stpeters.org
